Gambia - 2 x 1 Dalasi 1972/86 - Pick # 4f, 4g - UNC

Description

The one dalasi banknote from The Gambia features distinct artistic and security elements that reflect its cultural heritage. The front showcases an image of Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara, who was the first president of The Gambia, accompanied by intricate designs and the denomination prominently displayed in both English and Arabic. The pastel color palette, predominantly purples and blues, creates an appealing visual representation of the country’s identity.

Obverse (front)
The front of the one dalasi note displays a dignified portrait of Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara, set against a backdrop featuring traditional sailing boats and a stylized depiction of the Gambian landscape. The note's use of color gradients in shades of purple and blue contributes to its aesthetic appeal. Security features include a transparent window and microtext, which provide authenticity. The bilingual denomination ‘ONE DALASI’ is presented prominently, along with the signatures of the general manager and governor, highlighting the official nature of the currency.

Reverse (back)
The reverse side continues the maritime theme, depicting sailing boats that symbolize The Gambia’s rich fishing heritage. The same color scheme is utilized, creating a cohesive design. The banknote includes additional security features, such as watermarks and holographic elements that reflect light, making counterfeiting difficult. The overall layout is well balanced, with decorative borders that enhance the visual complexity. The presence of Arabic text alongside English serves to reflect the multicultural aspects of Gambian society.
